“Let no obstacle deter us from proceeding with courage.”
St Mary of the Cross MacKillop
On Thursday, August 8, our school community came together to celebrate the Feast Day of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop with a day of meaningful and joyous events. The day began with a Whole School Mass, led by Father Santhosh and our enthusiastic Year 1/2 Team. Our Mass was a beautiful reflection of our faith and a fitting tribute to Australia’s first saint, whose courage and compassion continues to inspire us today.
As part of our celebrations, we recognised students who demonstrate the values and qualities of Mary MacKillop. These students, through their actions and attitudes, represent the spirit of our school's charism, living out the values of courage, fairness, and love that Mary MacKillop championed. Special awards were presented to these students, recognising their commitment to following her example “In All Things Love”.
The day also included a fun Market Stall Fundraiser, with each class contributing through creative and thoughtful fundraising ideas as part of Mary MacKillop Today’s “Be Fierce for Fair” initiative. Inspired by Mary MacKillop’s example, our students demonstrated their dedication to being fierce in the face of adversity, fair when confronting injustice, and loving towards everyone they encounter.
We are incredibly proud to announce that, through the efforts of our school community, we raised an impressive $1,549.90. These funds will go Mary MacKillop Today, supporting vital projects across Australia, Timor-Leste, Peru, and Fiji, making a real difference in the lives of those in need.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all of our staff, students and families for supporting our fundraising efforts. Their generosity and involvement are invaluable, and together we can truly honour the legacy of St Mary MacKillop. This event celebrated her remarkable life and strengthened our community as we worked together to support a cause that reflects her values. May we continue to be inspired by Mary MacKillop’s example, carrying forward her legacy of courage, compassion, and service in all that we do.
